Teaching of Literature in English (SKVB4033)
under the supervision of Dr. Zalina Binti Mohd Lazim
and Prof. Madya Dr. Shantini Pillai A/P Joseph Sandra as the course coordinator.
Teaching of Literature in English allows us to explore the different methods to teach
literature in English especially in incorporating technology in our teaching.
This course also develops critical thinking especially in appreciation and
creating cultural awareness through literature in English. The literary texts
chosen are based on the Malaysian school syllabus. With the advancement of
technology, we utilised some additional sources such as creation of videos, web
sites and presentation. These sources can be used in the classroom environment
as well, provided with the basic needs of technology.
Our group has chosen one poem and one text from the Malaysian
literature syllabus, which are:
He Had Such Quiet Eyes by Bibsy Soenharjo
(Gender-based Approach & Aesthetic Approach)
(Gender-based Approach & Aesthetic Approach)
One is One and All Alone by Nicholas Fisk
(Cultural Approach & Language-based Approach)
(Cultural Approach & Language-based Approach)
Some of the lesson plans and activities were constructed
with the condition where basic needs of technology are met, such as
laptop/computers, projectors, and internet connection.
Activities and worksheet may be altered based on students’
level of proficiency in English.
Feel free to read through our blog.
