General Objective : Students will be able to understand the advice of the poem and appreciate the way it is portrayed.
Specific Objectives : By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
1. Rearrange all 3 stanzas in correct order.
2. List the tone and mood of the poem.
3. List at least 2 advices from the poem.
4. Recite the poem with the mood and tone listed in groups of 4 within 3 minutes.

Eliciting students’ responses:
-Teacher shows a video containing lines from the poem.
-Teacher asks how they felt after watching the video.

-Students view the video.
-Students provide responses.

WHILE-READING
(45 mins)
-Teacher presents the theme of the poem.
-Teacher explains stanza by stanza, as well as line by line.
-Teacher asks students to guess the meaning of desolate, imploring, compromise. Teacher gives explanation of the words.
-Teacher distributes worksheets to students. 



-Teacher discusses the answers with the students.
-Students listen to the explanation.
- Students read aloud the lines
-Students make guesses.



-Students answer the questions. They may discuss in pairs. 

-Students respond to teacher’s questions.

POST-READING
(30 mins)
-Teacher gives 10 minutes for students to practice reading aloud the poem in groups of 4.

-Teacher reminds students of the tone and mood that they wish to emphasise.
(Teacher monitors their progress)

-Teacher asks the students to recite the poem in groups. Each group is given maximum of 4 minutes.
-Students find their own group members.
-Students practise reciting the poem.



-Students recite the poem in groups within 4 minutes.
* Discussion in groups of 4.
